Got Comiculture? A letter to store-owners...
updated May 8, 2003

Dear Retailer,

First, we would like to thank each of you who have helped support Comiculture magazine. Since we made our debut last year at Comic Con International, we've enjoyed meeting many of you there and at other conventions. Admittedly, Comiculture can be a bit of an enigma until you look inside the pages. We've taken great joy at the reactions we get from fans and retailers alike, once they actually open the magazine and see it for what it is: a high quality and entertaining anthology of comic stories.

We are a small-press publisher, composed primarily of creators who have spent the last decade or more working for the mainstream comic companies as editors, writers and artists. If we have one gap in our collective experience it would be in the area of distribution and retail sales. We are still learning the ins & outs of getting our product to the public, but we've learned much in the past year.

Issue #1 was only available through Diamond Comics Distributors, and though there have been many delays on issue #2, it too is available from Diamond, as well as a few other outlets. Comiculture is now carried by Ingram Periodicals, Desert Moon Periodicals and FM International. And yes, we are selling Comiculture here in our own online store and in-person at as many comic conventions we can afford to appear at. Still, we encourage our readers to purchase Comiculture and any of our other products through "The System." That means through retail outlets like your own.

We hope you have ordered through these familiar sources. If you've missed that opportunity, we are happy to fulfill your orders directly. We are a small operation and each sale is important to us. Please contact us with any inquiries and please provide us information about your shop. We look forward to building some lasting relationships with customers like you!

Thanks for your support!

LET US HELP YOU HELP US!
updated May 8, 2003

Comiculture magazine is a grass-roots effort by artists who are well established as comic professionals, but who have united to create characters and stories that they own themselves. An important aspect of creator-owned projects is that all the creators have a vested interest in expanding awareness by generating sales.

To that end, we are ready and willing to help support our products in any way we can. Depending on schedules, distance & budget, our creators are happy to make personal appearances for in-store signings and workshops. We premiered our first issue at Hi De Ho Comics in Santa Monica, California and helped them to sell out! For our second issue, Golden Apple Comics hosted our "premier," where we assembled seven of our creators to personally tell customers all about our project. The following week, two of us attended Free Comics Day at Geoffrey's Comics in Gardena.

We are based in Los Angeles and can easily arrange to visit stores in the area to help promote Comiculture (and our other projects). We frequently attend conventions, particularly Comic Con International in San Diego. If you would like to arrange a special visit to your location, please contact us and let us know!

In addition, we print promotional posters for the conventions--do your customers appreciate items like these? Please let us know what we can do to help you help us! We're all in this together!

Thanks! We hope to meet you soon!
